The Hardtip Hand Tracer Is used to “trace” a straight line across the stone and then followed with heavier blows of the hand hammer to split it. On larger stones, the traced line is used as a guide for drilling holes for shims and wedges. When the wedges are driven into the stone, it should split along this line.
